Medical devices that require a light source to function include otoscopes, endoscopes, both rigid and flexible. These instruments need a head-mounted light to illuminate the oral cavity for diagnostic and interventional procedures such as quinsy diagnosis and drainage. Light sources come in various forms with costs, qualities, and complexities varying significantly. Endoscope light sources can be either large, heavy, and bulky boxes or small pocket-sized devices that often go missing and are expensive. As a result, performing examinations with devices requiring a light source can be challenging, especially during out-of-hours situations. This print enables the production of a simple, cost-effective, versatile light coupling device that can be used on numerous medical devices to provide illumination when conventional medical light sources are not readily available. It should be printed in flexible material such as silicone, although an ideal printable material has yet to be found. The coupler has been produced in large quantities using a mold (see https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2236657). When selecting torches, the author recommends careful choice and advises against using torches with a head diameter greater than 13mm.
