The universal joint is a versatile mechanical connection used for linking shafts whose axes intersect at an angle. Also referred to as a universal coupling, U-joint and Hooke's Joint, it adapts to angular misalignment in any direction between the connected shafts. Typically, when employing a universal joint, the angle between the shafts should not exceed 30 degrees.
