Universal wall mount for hanging a hammock indoor. This model is designed to anchor a hammock using one of widely available 1 inch hammock straps you can find cheaply on Amazon. The strap laces through the slot, and hooks onto the top hook. Similar concept to this commercially available model (https://youtu.be/TEw74mUK0Wc), but narrower for US 2 inch wall studs. ## Is this thing strong enough? ## During the design I've thought hard about the print direction. There's a compromise between the strength over the slot and around the screws. Turns out that the static load well below the tensile strength of PETG/PLA plus: Ultimate tensile strength of PETG / PLA plus (z axis, i.e across print layer): 20-30MPa Smallest cross-sectional area in z axis (underestimate): ~ 1cm3 Average person weight: 90kg Average stress (assuming 45 degree angle): 0.5 x 90kg x 9.8m/s^2 / (0.01) ^2 / tan(45) = 4.41MPa So there's a safety factor of around 5 or more. ## Print instructions ## PETG or stronger material is highly recommended! We used PETG, and modified PLA (i.e. PLA plus) may also work. Recommended print setting: - Printing with 0.4mm nozzle with extrusion width set to 0.8mm. - 20% infill with 2 parameters. ## Installation ## You need four #10 (3/16" diameter) wood screws at least 1.5 inch long (i.e. 4-4.5mm diameter wood screw, 40mm long). The exact length will depend on how thick your dry wall is. Use a hammock hang calculator to get the right height for the anchor points. You want hang angle to be around 30-45 degrees. Find a stud, and fix an anchor on the wall. Lace a hammock strap through the slot, and test load using your body weight. You should make sure the anchors will take your weight before hanging the hammock!
