Universal Filament Holder
thingiverse
This is a remix of the Universal filament holder from DavidAmigo5 and the Ender 3 Filament Roller Guide from Holspeed. I merged these two designs to create something entirely new. I swapped out the mating shafts that support the 608ZZ bearings in the original design with through holes for M4 x 20 bolts. This simple change gives me a lot more flexibility when it comes to assembling the holder. On each bearing, I press-fit guide rings onto the outside of the bearing. These guide rings keep the spool tracking smoothly in the center of the groove, preventing it from sliding across the surface of the bearing and rubbing against the bearing holder or cap. I included two different sizes of guide rings - small ones that worked for me, as well as larger ones just in case you need them. Next, I inserted a spacer onto each side of the bearing. Then, an M4 x 20 bolt is passed from the countersink side of the holder, through the spacers on the bearing and out the other side. An M4 nut is screwed onto the exposed end of the bolt. When the nut is tightened, it squeezes the cap, spacers, and holder together tightly inside the bearing, while keeping the outside of the bearing free to turn. You'll need a M4 x 20 bolt and an M4 nut for each bearing.
