Universal Filament Colorizer

Universal Filament Colorizer

thingiverse

A versatile filament dyer designed to work seamlessly with various filament sizes and printers. This user-friendly device utilizes a standard Sharpie permanent marker as its pigment source, allowing for effortless switching between markers mid-print without interrupting the printing process. The compact design enables continuous operation even when not using a marker, ensuring uninterrupted coloration. Printing is hassle-free, requiring no supports whatsoever. Simply secure a rubber band of suitable size to match your chosen marker. For enclosed printers, consider utilizing mini permanent markers to prevent wall collisions and print errors. As with all pigment systems, periodic "flushing" of the nozzle with un-colored filament is recommended to prevent jamming. Printing a model without markers will achieve this goal. A complementary STL file, filament_colorizer_double.STL, facilitates the use of two markers for enhanced pigment application. This setup yields even color distribution or enables mixing colors for captivating effects. Some users have found that carefully splitting the marker tip with a sharp blade can optimize color application.
