Disclaimer: This Mask Will Not Defend You Against COVID-19 Coronavirus. This is a current lockdown experiment designed to create as many masks as possible using available resources without breaking lockdown rules or overspending. We aimed to design something functional, enjoyable to wear, and with multiple uses. To encourage mask-wearing within our communities, we're distributing these masks for free among family members, friends, and neighbors. A universal exhalation valve for masks, created by faisca2000, greatly simplified this process. Thank you! We adapted it to suit our needs by adding a thread, combining parts, and making minor support changes for added strength. This modification worked flawlessly for our application. Note that we used a bicycle tube as the valve and sewed together two layers of suitable mask material to create a pocket filled with activated charcoal. We then sewed it shut to create a functional filter. Alternatively, you can cut out a circle with an inside diameter of 25mm and an outside diameter of 30mm for use as a seal.
