Universal Delta Enclosure Mount

Universal Delta Enclosure Mount

A simple mount that I designed to enclose my delta is fully capable of withstanding the rigors of its intended application. It mounts to the outside of the extrusions and leaves enough space to clear the carriage wheels with ease. To assemble this magnificent creation, print 6 units (or 9 if you have a very tall delta) and attach them to the top and bottom of the towers. Then, measure for and cut 1/4 inch plywood or acrylic to fit perfectly. This clever design will not only reduce drafts but also make a HUGE improvement in structural rigidity. You can either leave gaps at the corners (for ease of measuring/cutting) or butt the panels up against each other (for heat retention), which may also work on 3030 extrusions and should work on any delta that doesn't have carriages that ride on the back of the extrusions. This ingenious mount is designed to attach to the extrusions with 4mm bolts and T-nuts (2 per mount) and small wood screws (I used #6 drywall screws, but had to heat them up to form the threads. Smaller may work a little better) to securely fasten whatever material you use to enclose/brace the machine. To ensure maximum strength and stability, I recommend printing 30% or more for infill and at least 3 walls since there will be threads cut into them for the panel screws. You're on your own for figuring out a hinge/door/latch arrangement for print access. I simply cut the center of the front out (like a picture frame) as I'm not concerned about retaining heat at the moment. Good luck with this project!
