A universal joint, also known as a universal coupling, U-joint, Cardan joint, Spicer or Hardy Spicer joint, or Hooke's joint, connects rods with axes at different angles and is commonly utilized in shafts transferring rotary motion. It comprises two nearby hinges angled 90° apart, joined by a cross shaft. However, it does not maintain constant velocity.
