Universal Adapter Smartphone-Binoculars
cults3d
I have created a universal adapter to take photos and videos from any smartphone with any pair of binoculars. The combination of smartphone and binoculars enables you to capture great images at long distances! I made it specifically for taking photos of whales and dolphins during a boat trip. #HP3D This adapter is perfect for use with a 12x12x12 cm printer or larger. If you test it, please leave a comment with the brands of both your smartphone and binoculars used, as well as whether it works or not, so I can update the list below. You can also ask any questions, and I'll be happy to answer them. Main features: -Small -Easy to use (see "how to assemble" and "how to use" below) -Fully 3D printed (no additional screws or nuts needed) -For binoculars and microscopes I tested many 3D printed adapters for this purpose, but I wasn't satisfied with them. That's why I created my own adapter. The screw holding the smartphone was inspired by the great design of OpenOcular (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2567141), which is used for microscopes. However, the device is too big and not usable on my binoculars. How to assemble the pieces? I created a gif that shows how to assemble the pieces, along with photos. How to use it? There's an image and a gif beside this text to explain how to use this adapter. Here are the main steps: -STEP 1: Place the smartphone between the holding pieces ("L-piece" and "X-piece"), then tighten the nut of the "L-piece". -STEP 2: Rotate the second nut on the "X-piece" so that the middle of the X is placed just in front of the camera. -STEP 3: Place the "X-piece" between the eyepieces of the binoculars, then close the eyepieces. -STEP 4: Slide the smartphone horizontally until the image is neat. Here's a list of smartphones that have been tested with this adapter: -iPhone 6S -Fairphone 2 -Redmi note 2 And here's a list of binoculars that have been tested with this adapter: -Prostaff (Nikon) -Aculon (Nikon)
