This handy accessory safeguards your FFF 3D printer filament from two prevalent problems - contamination and wear. A sponge effectively cleans the filament, eradicating dust particles that can clog the extruder. By applying a few drops of ordinary mineral oil to the sponge, the filament passing through is lubricated, thereby easing the strain on the extruder motor. Lubrication is particularly beneficial when the filament must travel long distances before entering the extruder. Instructions: Print the provided STL file and insert a small piece of sponge into the filament filter. Poke a hole in the sponge to ensure the filament passes through and emerges at the other end. Soak the sponge with several drops of mineral oil, just as you would for sewing machines, door hinges, or bicycle chains. Place the filament filter between the spool and the extruder. If you have a plastic tube guiding the filament to the extruder (like a bowden solution), ensure the filter is positioned before the filament enters the tube.
