Univers Revolved is a creative project by Ji Lee of PleaseEnjoy.com. It transforms the Roman alphabet into 3D, axially symmetrical objects. The letters can be stacked or combined in various ways. Check out the possibilities at universrevolved.com. When I discovered this online, I reached out to Ji Lee for permission to upload it on Thingiverse, which he kindly granted and expressed interest in our community. We hope to print some of these designs and show them to him using a MakerBot soon. With thanks to the artist, Ji Lee! The Sketchup file available on this page serves as a reference for the actual Univers Revolved design as it maintains the internal cavities that wouldn't be visible in a 3D print. The STL file of the entire alphabet, however, is intended for printing and does not contain these voids. Some letters have large overhangs that will require support material during printing. I have successfully skeinforged the file with and without the support option active. I plan to make test prints the next time I'm at NYCR to see how the support material works out. Individual letter STL files will also be added over time, but I didn't want to delay the release of the whole alphabet for that. The design is licensed under CC-Attribution (to Ji Lee, not me), Non-Commercial, and No Derivatives until further notice from Ji Lee. You are welcome to print and play with these designs, and share them around!
