United Methodist Cross

United Methodist Cross

thingiverse

I created this design using Fusion 360 to craft a piece of maple that I'd like to CNC carve. I was surprised that no one had a 3D version of the United Methodist symbol available on Thingiverse, so I'm hoping others can make use of it. To emphasize the wood grain, I tapered the cross and added height curvature to the flames by extruding them first, then cutting with a B-spline plane. If you'd like to enhance this design, I've provided the DWG file in CAD format for you. Since creating the DWG, I added three small supports to reinforce the flame. These supports are included in the STL file as well. I printed it at 4x scale, resulting in a 4 3/8" long cross. Printing on a Prusa mini with 4x scale and set for detail at 0.10mm layer height took 2.3 hours.
