Unique Random Formicarium (Pure OpenSCAD, Parametric)
thingiverse
This creates one-of-a-kind 2D formicaria ("ant farms") in pure OpenSCAD. Every time you generate a model, it will be unique. As for habitability, I haven't thought about that yet - this is just an experiment so far. Currently, the output is 2D, intended to be laser cut. I'll test it in Customizer, but I'm not sure how that will go. The goal is to eventually expand this into a 3D model with feature placement (water sources, etc.), and a laser-cut acrylic lid. The pattern generated won't have any "islands" inside the maze, so there won't be loose pieces if cut without a base. If you want to edit the model later to make your own entrances, just move the "entrance" tile position inside (this also serves as the starting point for maze generation, so it must be valid). It supports taking a seed that, given all other parameters being the same, should re-generate the same pattern.
