I'm thrilled to share with you my latest creation, a 90 degree shaft coupling without any gears! I was inspired by the ingenious invention of T.R. Almond, an engineer who patented this unique design in 1884. As I delved into bringing this idea to life, I realized that there were no blueprints available for me to follow. So, I decided to reverse-engineer it, making sure to stay true to its original form while also ensuring it could be 3D printed. However, there's one crucial step you'll need to pay attention to: the ball bearing inside the crank. This requires a bit of extra effort, as it needs to be printed in place. Simply get them into your slicer first, then move the ball into the crank. Most printers should have enough clearance to prevent sticking. Once you've attached the crank to the axle using some glue, make sure to put the lever on the long shaft and through the crank ball bearing afterwards. Easy peasy!
