This is the trusty sidearm wielded by Captain Ed Mercer and other members of the Planetary Union in Seth MacFarlane's sci-fi dramedy series, "The Orville." It's a blast to examine; from certain vantage points, this futuristic firearm appears as a high-tech energy blaster with adjustable intensity. But glance at it from another angle, and you might be forgiven for thinking it resembles a banana - I'm convinced that was the intention all along! UPDATED FILES: The initial versions were oversized, but that's now been rectified. The prop has been tweaked to include locator holes for attaching the barrel to the grip using tiny strands of filament.
