This is a door in the pilot (cattle catcher) of the Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 Big Boy. The front coupler is retractable to prevent damage when running and this door swivels into place in the pilot to seal off the opening. I made the accompanying STL for a friend, it is 1/8th scale. Model was built from original blueprints.
