Unibody Tatting Shuttle

Unibody Tatting Shuttle

thingiverse

This is a tatting shuttle that prints as one solid piece. No assembly necessary. You will need to sand it to make it smooth enough for its intended use of making lacework. I've printed it in ABS. It probably will print well in PLA, perhaps even easier than with ABS. Enjoy! Post-Printing You'll need to finish this with sandpaper. After breaking off the supports, there will be bumps that need to be sanded out. Even without that, you'll want to sand the shuttle just to get it smooth. Maybe you'll want to paint it too, since bare 3D materials can look a bit dull. How I Designed This The other shuttles found here are in two pieces. I printed out some other shuttles from Thingiverse that work perfectly fine. Probably the world doesn't need this contribution. But those shuttles all have separate parts, some requiring force-fit and others needing glue to put them together. I didn't see why that should be necessary, especially since printing the other shuttles in the best orientation for strength and utility ends up requiring supports, so it's better to print as one solid piece. That's how this model was created. I used Fusion360 to create the model, saved as STL, then imported into Meshmixer to add the supports. The resulting STL was exported from Meshmixer.
