Warships anchored in 24m of water in Scapa Flow rely on the Anti-Torpedo Close Protection Pontoons (ATCPP) to shield them from aerial torpedoes. This section of floats and net is just one part of a larger defense system. The floats show visible signs of damage from small calibre cannon fire, suggesting that the nets were deliberately sunk once their usefulness had expired.
