Underwater: Torpedo Nets and Floats
sketchfab
The Anti-Torpedo Close Protection Pontoons (ATCPP) stand guard in 24 meters of water at Scapa Flow, their purpose clear: to shield warships from aerial torpedoes. This section of floats and net is a crucial part of a larger site yet to be explored. The floats bear the scars of small calibre cannon fire, suggesting that these nets were eventually retired by being deliberately sunk when they had outlived their usefulness. To put this site into perspective, it stretches approximately 36 meters in length. Model courtesy of Simon Brown. All rights reserved. Permission is required before embedding.
