A worn-out mooring system for pleasure boats lies abandoned on the Peninsula of Giens' shoreline, its south France location a stark reminder of the damage it has caused to the surrounding posidonia seagrass ecosystem. The area's tranquility is shattered by the concrete monstrosity, which casts a long shadow over the once-pristine waters. Nearby, a vibrant meadow of underwater seagrass sways gently in the current, its delicate leaves battered and bruised from the relentless pounding of waves against the structure's base. The sand beneath is scarred by ripple marks that bear witness to the turmoil caused by the mooring system's presence, their surface littered with the decaying remains of fallen seagrass leaves.
