New Version out
Twin-Hulled 2/3rds scale version uploaded. Hoping to try it out later. Wings are simpler, closer to centre plane. Fuselage is twinned.
From before....
I made another mini one, this time with a much thinner shell. This should have the lowest negative buoyancy yet! Fingers cross it works. It is the "even_smaller_Rev1" and ".3mf" file.
And before that...
I screwed up where I have the centre of mass vs. the wing. I made a second wing, but it's still not working as it should. Also, the 2.5 deg of tail pitch is way too much.
Had so much fun playing with the torpedo toy I made (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6134697 ), that I decided to make an underwater glider. I noticed at the end of the torpedo trajectory, that one of the designs would glide further than the others. I decided to play around some more with slightly-negative buoyancy stuff. It's on the print bed now, but it should be pretty fun. Like the torpedo, it is designed to be used flooded with water to ensure adequate weight/negative buoyancy. There is a 2.5 deg negative pitch (actually is a twisted pitch, but whatever....) on the rear horizontal rudder, the idea is that it should sink, gain speed, and slowly pitch upward--so the thinking goes anyway. Be sure to check out my cool collection of accessible/adaptive (& historical) drinkware over at WeCanDrinkTogether.com
Review
In reviewing the "quickie" buoyancy spreadsheet.... All I can say is "What was I on?!" It's got all the details you need to do the buoyancy, but I can tell I wasn't really paying attention when I did it.... Approach with caution, lol.
