Underwater Cities Insert (with expansion)
thingiverse
This is my custom board game insert for Underwater Cities, featuring the New Discoveries expansion. The design was created using the Rio Grande Games edition of both the base game and expansion. I'm open to constructive feedback or suggestions for improvement - feel free to comment! Regarding box size, I attempted to print an insert from Thingiverse but found that it didn't fit my box due to its height. I suspect the Delicious Games edition has a taller box than Rio Grande Games, but I don't have a DG copy to measure. If someone can confirm dimensions for me, I'd appreciate it. The RGG box measurements are 313mm long, 224mm wide, and 70mm deep. I started with upgraded bits from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3575642. I've printed resources, currency, and submarines, and all fit into this design. Please note that I printed my submarines at 75% scale, making them smaller than the originals. I didn't design for sleeved cards since I don't typically use them, but there's so little space with dual-sided player boards that they won't fit. Maybe I'll revisit it later, but I doubt it'll work - there just isn't enough extra space. As usual, I designed this insert to be flush with the lid and keep all components in place. Due to the face-down player boards not covering the top completely, I'm keeping the boxes on top of the boards and rulebooks. The shake test went great, with only a few cards moving around - I shook it pretty hard! For the card box, I organized the cards as follows: * Top left corner: Era 1, Player cards, New Discovery hex tiles * Top right corner: Era 2, Special Contract cards, Turn marker, Multiplier tiles * Bottom left corner: Era 3, Contract cards, Hex tiles * Bottom right corner: New Discovery cards, New Discovery tiles For printing, follow the screenshot I posted in the pictures to see how many STLs to print, along with approx cost and time.
