For this project different number of blades of water wheels were analyzed and the aim was to find optimum number of blades which will give maximum efficiency. The result was concluded from simulation data and it was found that the efficiency is maximum when eight number of blades are used.Different results found from simulation data are as follow:• The efficiency of waterwheel turbine is different using different number of blades and is maximum when using eight number of blades.• The output power also shows optimum results, when using eight number of blades.• The reason is that when eight number of blades are used than only one blade is dipped at a time so to prevent backflow due to immersion. Moreover, next blade comes in contact with water as soon as the previous one is passed, thereby maintaining a constant inertia at the flywheel.• The results show that the kinetic energy of water has no effect on the energy conversion process in an undershot waterwheel, therefore, the undershot waterwheel should be classified as a reaction turbine.• The torque produced by waterwheel increases with inlet velocity
