The smoke signal project launched on Kickstarter about a year ago. It consists of a simple modification to a standard smoke detector designed specifically for use with 3D printers, which includes a power cut-off switch. The sensor was originally positioned near the printer but I wanted it installed inside my Replicator's hood for added convenience while still being easy to remove if needed. A key aspect of this project is that it utilizes a straightforward card and slot design that allows users to mount the smoke detector safely within their hood while still allowing for easy removal when desired.
