Under-the-shelf 6mm U-rail universal Screwdriver holder

<p>Running out of walls here, so I started using shelf ceilings.</p> <p>Here's an universal screwdriver holder based on a 6mm U profile. It can be of any length and support screwdrivers of any size thanks to the freely re-positionable snap-on bits. The labels are optional. Very little plastic required.</p> <p>The profile must be 6x6mm (external size), 1mm thick, U-shaped. In this case I've used anodized aluminium, but can be of other metals. You can get these profiles from almost any hardware store for less than 3 euro per meter. Don't use PVC profiles: at this size they're too flexible.</p> <p>The design is optimized for 0.2mm layers, 0.4mm nozzle. PLA is recommended for all parts.</p> <p>To ensure good rigidity there's very little clearance between parts. Your printer should be well-tuned and do not over-extrude.</p> <p>I recommend placing 5 rail guides in a meter (one every 23.7cm) to ensure good loading strength and little torsional deformation. You can fully load the rail with any tool size with this interval. For fixing both epoxy and acrylates (superglue) give excellent results.</p> <p>The snap-on screwdriver holders come in various diameters. Measure the diameter of your screwdriver's shaft and pick the holder with one extra millimeter for a perfect fit. The holders have a slight upward tilt to avoid slippage.</p> <p>The labels are the same for all sizes.</p> <p>I'm really pleased with the result. The position is very convenient if you have a shelf and the possibility to re-arrange the toolset keeps the workplace tidy as you grow your arsenal.</p> <p>I'm thinking to add more bits to hold different kind of tools as well (hex spanners will probably be next).
