Under table spool storage and holder #FilamentChallenge
thingiverse
#FilamentChallenge Store spools neatly out of sight by placing a line of them under your workbench edge. When you're ready, simply pull out the desired spool, pivot it up, and push in to lock it into place. The spool is now ready for use. A built-in filament guide prevents bird-nesting and acts as an end holder when stored. This holder accommodates spools up to 3 inches wide by 9.5 inches in diameter. The guide hole is designed for 1.75 mm filament, but can be drilled out for larger filaments. You'll need two screws for mounting the unit under your table and a 4-1/2 inch by 1/8 inch bolt with a wing nut to hold the spool in place. While I considered making a completely printable solution, sometimes metal hardware is simply better. I initially designed this holder for my own workbench, but since relocating my printer, an overhead cabinet has become a more suitable option. Seeing the new challenge sparked an idea that others might find my design useful, so I completed the drafting process. Since I won't be using it myself, I haven't printed it yet, so please report any issues you encounter. If you're an AutoCAD 2016 user and want to modify the design, I'll send you a copy of the dwg file.
