Under Falling Skies: Game Tile Frame System
prusaprinters
This is a frame system to provide stability to the long stack of tiles in the board game Under Falling Skies. The four frame pieces are connected together progressively as the two base tiles, the city tile, and the four sky tiles are slid into them. The frame pieces include slots for the energy, research, and damage tokens. For those playing the campaign game, character card stands are available which can click into the second frame near the city tile. There is a one-character stand, a long three-character stand, and a stacked three-character stand, depending on the user's preferences. Both left- and right-side variants of the character stand have been created, to keep the character cards out of the way of natural arm motion depending on whether the player is right-handed or left-handed. For ease of storage, the four frame pieces include notches and pegs so that they stack cleanly. If one is using the special mothership base that was created for this frame system, the base fits conveniently between Frame 1 and Frame 2 when they are stacked for storage. One of the photos shows this arrangement. Print Settings Printer Brand: Creality Printer: Ender 5 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.8 mm Infill: 20% Filament: eSun; Ender; Prusament; Hatchbox PLA and PLA+ Black, Fire Engine Red, Yellow; White; Royal Blue; Green Notes: A variety of filament swaps were done when printing. Frame 1 was printed with three filament swaps, and the top side rail frame pieces for tracking energy, damage, and research progress each had one filament swap for the appropriate accent color. The top side rail pieces were attached to the main frame plates using superglue. The four photos on the white background show the printed pieces prior to gluing. How I Designed This =================== An image of the "Under Falling Skies" logo was downloaded from the web and converted to black and white using Gimp. The image was then converted into a .SVG file using Inkscape so that the image could be imported into Fusion 360. All of the frame components were designed in Fusion 360 and then exported as .STL files via MeshMixer. Category: Games
