I designed these skids to be as straightforward as possible while still providing long-lasting and effective performance. They are even with the carbon sled so USB ports and other ports remain unobstructed. To assemble them, simply insert the two screws and washers from each side through each piece and into the standoffs - you'll be good to go in no time. I also utilize two small "wheel" like components on the front of the cage (check out the pictures). Judging by their pristine appearance, it's clear they don't come into contact with the ground very often, but they do offer added protection in case of a crash.
