In 2005, I created an umbrella tree model in 3ds Max 7 without any plugins. Recently, I revamped the scene for 2011 with the same software and included OBJ and FBX files. With only two textures used, this lightweight model is ideal for environmental renderings. However, you will need to convert the Standard materials to Vray according to your preference. The scene's gamma is set at 1.0, and it comes with both FBX and OBJ files.
