This is a hood made entirely from 2 mm acrylic sheet with expertly printed parts. The hood fits perfectly on top of the Ultimaker, securing itself in place using two small magnets on the front to prevent any accidental tipping. Designed to sit snugly within the top edge, this hood still allows my dovetail mounting system to be used seamlessly on the top edges. The hood gently overhangs the back slightly to provide easy access for cables and bowden tubes while minimizing drafts and heat loss. It is also ideal for users with feeders located on both sides. The top hinges open effortlessly, allowing for multiple positions and easy access to the interior. Currently, I am using Duct tape to attach the three lid pieces together, giving me complete flexibility as I have not yet decided on a camera mount or the type of knob to use on the lid. 2 mm acrylic sheet can be easily obtained from a local DIY center and can be scored and snapped with minimal effort using a suitable tool and straight edge. The only machining required for the acrylic sheets was drilling mounting holes, along with some minor filing to complete them. The mounting holes on the plastic parts were tapped M3 for added durability. Update 29th April 2017 New parts have been added that can be used to create a hood from 3 mm sheet. These new parts all have the suffix "3mmA." To make one side of the hood, you will need to mirror the two pieces that form the bottom front corner, bottom back corner, and top back corner. You will also need to adjust the width of the back piece, the top, and other pieces that cross from the two sides by 2 mm from the given dimensions. I have not built these parts as I do not currently have access to 3 mm sheet.
