The ceremonial adze KW2742, crafted from volcanic rock, likely andesita, is one of the most peculiar pieces unearthed at Uluburun. Although it resembles an adze, it lacks functionality as such, being fully ceremonial and ostentatious in nature. It probably would have been placed on the stern, although it was found in a dispersal area. Some parallels can be drawn with other finds in the Balkans and Susa from the Akkadian period (24th-23rd BC). The closest parallel, though in bronze, was discovered in the Drajna de Jos deposit in Romania and two bivalve stone molds for similar metal pieces were found at Pobit Kamuk near Razgrad in Bulgaria. It bears a resemblance to another bronze example from Lozovo II in Moldavia. All of them likely date back to the 13th century BC, making the Uluburun shipwreck. The 3D model was created by Arqueología y Didáctica Start Up Universidad de Zaragoza based on the replica made by Architecnica for the Uluburun: A Shipwreck in Your Pool activity.
