Ultrasonic transducers encompass three groups: transmitters, receivers, and transceivers. Transmitters alter electrical signals into ultrasound, while receivers do the reverse by converting ultrasound to electrical signals; transceivers can perform both tasks. Like radar and sonar, these devices are applied in systems that gauge targets via interpreting reflected waves. For instance, by quantifying the period between emitting a signal and receiving an echo, an object's distance is calculable. Conversely, passive ultrasonic sensors are essentially microphones that identify existing ultrasonic noise under certain circumstances.
