Ultrasonic Antenna for SRF04
thingiverse
Construct a spherical omnidirectional receiver antenna for SRF04 ultrasonic rangefinder or similar sensors using the provided STL files. The base has cutaway support shells to accommodate risers, which are press-fitted and held in place with adhesive. Attach the holder to the riser ends and glue the hemisphere to the holder if needed for stability. Assemble the antenna by aligning the hemisphere's nadir over the rangefinder receiver. Remove the transmitter module to prevent acoustic signal transmission. This antenna offers omnidirectional reception, providing about 7 meters of range with SRF04, similar to a directional receiver. Experiment with different shapes like cones for the hemisphere. Smoothing is optional but can be done with epoxy clay. Estimated build times vary: risers - 7 minutes each, holder - 4 minutes, base - 30 minutes, and hemisphere - a long time.
