Ultrascope is a 3D-printed telescope project led by openspaceagency.com, now offering print files for the project. Several components, however, exceed Replicator-sized print bed dimensions. The provided OpenSCAD file divides those large components into smaller sections, adds alignment pins and sockets to make assembly easier. Additionally, this file includes a pin and socket test, enabling users to fine-tune the fit. As stated by openspaceagency.com: "Ultrascope is an open-source robotic telescope or Automated Robotic Observatory (ARO), controlled by a smartphone, empowering citizen scientists with low-cost access to a robotic telescope that supports professional astronomers' work." Print Settings Printer: Replicator Notes: Print settings for each component can be adjusted using parameters located in the OpenSCAD file header. These parameters enable users to choose which component to print and whether to produce the male or female part, with an option to include mouse ears (also known as helper disks) at split ends. Initially, you must download the Ultrascope files from openspaceagency.com before selecting suitable print settings under the 'process' tab on openspaceagency's website. OpenSCAD can be downloaded for free from openscad.org. The provided Ultrascope image is courtesy of openspaceagency.com; our experience with 3D printing shows that the split file technique indeed works.
