Ultracompact set CastleChess
thingiverse
The package includes game pieces and a playing board. For ultimate compactness, all components fit snugly within one another, much like the principle of nesting dolls or stacked chairs. 16 figures are cleverly folded into one, resulting in an entire set that takes up just two small tubes when assembled. I've undertaken similar projects before, but this time I noticed a unique combination of form edges and paired figure counterforms arranged vertically, reminiscent of Maurits Cornelis Escher's works. The medieval aesthetic is reinforced by pawn designs that resemble miniature towers and knight helmets. The base without corners allows for hassle-free printing, while the void within reduces printing time. The playing board measures 20x20 cm (two sections of 20x10, which can fit inside the assembled parts). In the square version, pawns and towers require the printing of two files; in the round one, a universal piece is used, printed twice. While only the square layout is provided, you can download the round figures from https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/28518-ultracompact-set-castlechess. Previous chess projects include: The Lanier Graham chess set (based on thingiverse.com/thing:3369638). The Josef Hartwig chess set (based on thingiverse.com/thing:3484722). A cylinder version with traditional chess symbols (based on thingiverse.com/thing:3493954). A frame chess design (based on thingiverse.com/thing:3507913).
