This shim enables users to securely install an Ultrabay Slim device, such as a DVD writer, into standard Thinkpad models like the T420. The Ultrabay Slim is 2.9mm narrower than its regular counterpart, and this shim provides added stability when in use by filling the gap above the drive. I secured my shim directly onto the top of the DVD drive using glue.
