This is an upgraded version of my extremely simple yet highly efficient adapter for filament spools designed specifically for the spool holder that came with my Anet A8. The old version can be seen at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1950461. It will move very smoothly using just the M8 rod that the holder included, without requiring any bearings. This design works seamlessly on any spool holder utilizing an M8 rod. This version features an opening for 13mm M8 nuts to be press-fitted into place. I have utilized all inner spool diameters encountered so far, even more than in the previous version, making it compatible with a wide range of filament spools. To use this adapter, simply print two of them, press-fit one M8 nut into each adapter, and install them on the M8 rod that came with your spool holder. I recommend adding two lock nuts to one end of the rod with a small space in between as a guide to prevent the rod from drifting towards either side (see photo). When fitting the nuts, it may be helpful to use an 8mm screw from the opposite side and tighten it to force the nut into the opening. Adding some glue will hold it in place if it doesn't fit tightly enough. Update 19.4.2017: I have added a larger version that is also suitable for spools with large 75mm openings. This updated design now includes finger openings, making it easier to twist and adjust the adapter as needed.
