A chess set of pieces and board. The design idea for the board and pieces is based on the transition between square and circle.

How to print the pieces

The pieces can be printed without any support.

How to print the board

In order to print the bi-color board, I used a trick (that I learned from Devin Montes / Make Anything):

print first the file chessboard_overlap_white.stl (at 0.2mm) This will print only one layer. These are the white squares.

DON'T REMOVE this print from the bed

print chessboard_overlap_black.stl (at 0.2mm, and again: without having removed previous print from the bed). This will complete the first layer, and continue printing more layers on top.

The two prints are complementary and the result is a single rectangle prism with two colors in the bottom layer.
