Alright. This is a modular Raspberry Pi Case. It is designed to fit the 3 and 4 B models. If I have designed this thing correctly you should be able to construct nearly any configuration requirement you could imagine for a Raspberry Pi. For starters, the design is a based on an elongated octagonal truncated pyramid. The main housing consists of of the Top and the Bottom. The Bottom is what you screw into to mount your Pi. The Top features 4 bays for modular facing attachments. The top and bottom halves vary greatly, some having ventilation holes, some having mounts for fans 40mm and/or 60 mm fans, and some having a bare-bones approach. The Bottom has just as much variety with some having have feet, SD access, ventilation holes, and fan mounts. The side panels have just as much variation. Some have vents, others simply have cabling or ribbon ports. Some even have 45-degree interfaces to make a radial cluster with 8 other Pis! Its kinda like if your favorite brick building company in Denmark decided to make a Pi case. The truncated pyramid design allows for cable routing inside the case. Additionally, on the connectivity end with the USBs and Ethernet ports, the plugs are encapsulated for strain relief and to make the overall construction look sharp. The goal is to make it look like the cables just disappear inside the case. All components are designed to have a relatively robust snap-fit with small snap spheres at the connection points. Some sanding may be required depending on tolerances.

INSTRUCTIONS.

Identify what mission you want this case to accomplish. Does your pi need active cooling or will passive cooling suffice? Does your pi need to mount to a wall? Does your Pi need to be mounted with other Pis? Does your Pi need to have feet? Do you just want it to look crazy cool?

Select 6 STLs from the set of files, 1 Top, 1 Base, 2 Short sides, 2 Long sides.

Print your files

Assemble, sand to polish the fit, glue according to your use case.

Send me a comment and post your makes and tell me what works and what doesn't. Do you have an idea for a modular face that needs to be added to the set? Let me know.

Category: Engineering
