Ultra Compact Filamentholder I updated my old Flat Filament Spool Holder in Autodesk Fusion 360 and made it 8mm higher. Improved accuracy, reduced print time, and gave it a general face-lift. You can view it in 3D on Autodesk360 hub. Hope you like it. Usage Mount on the front/top or inside your printer case...On your wall or in cabinets etc etc. The numbers in the filenames are indicated by how many times that specific part needs to be printed. Extras I've added some Slider Mounts Extender and Slider Mounts Short Extender for special needs. I use the extender parts to print small 0.5kg rolls, but also use the same setup for bigger standard rolls. BOM 6x F688 bearings - METRIC: 8mm (Inner) x 16mm (Outer) x 5mm (Width) 2x m3 lock nuts - nylon. 2x m3 heat set or press fit nuts 4x m3 20mm screws + screws/nuts to mount the parts to the surface of your choice Print Settings Printer: My Crossbot design Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2-0.25 Infill: 25-55 Notes: Print Settings Used I printed using a 0.4mm nozzle. 3 perimeters/borders 3 top and bottom. Mount Point 25% infill Slider Mounts 25% Slider Release 44% Rollers 55% Spacer... Support Only need support when printing the Slider Mounts/Extender. Set Support overhang Angle to 85% to avoid support in recesses for the nuts. I did not need to use support on Rollers or any other parts than Slider Mounts Post-Printing Minor cleaning of parts and insertion of nuts and bearings. The parts don't require a lot of post-processing. Just clean up any stringing you might have. Insert the m3 nuts where needed, using a longer m3 screw to pull them in. Insert 2 F688 bearings for each roller How I Designed This This is a remake of my Flat Filament Spool Holder I decided to redesign everything in Autodesk Fusion 360 as I needed some changes made. Major changes: The entire assembly is 8mm higher. Using m3 inserts for the Release Trap of the Slider part. Rollers print without support. Can print 4 in an hour, where 1 took 44 minutes before! All parts are more accurate. The fingernut is from Ultimate Nut Knob Generator and is named Fingernut_M3x10_v1_1.stl Insert your heat set or press fit m3 nut. I used a heat set version, but inserted it using pliers. Assemble the Slider parts. Screw on m3 lock-nut on a m3 20mm screw. Insert into the fingernut and assemble it as shown. Lines on print are due to 2 walls only. More info If you need additional information on how to mount or use this, please take a look at my previous version Flat Filament Spool Holder - No spring- The Claw remake where I added a lot more information. How it works: There are 2 Flanged bearings in each of the rollers, which ensures very smooth motion with no risk of any wheel tightening up.
