Ultra Compact Travel Hanger

<p>Well done <a href="https://www.prusaprinters.org/social/73551-frenchfriesderp">FrenchFriesDerp</a> for achieving an seemingly impossible feat of a fully printed clothes hanger in under an hour. &nbsp;The hanger will serve a majority of people well. &nbsp;But for me, I also need to dry my socks at the hotel, so I still need the lower horizontal bar in the hanger.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>I created a compact travel hanger that retain the lower horizontal member. &nbsp;This hanger served as a good example of Dieter Rams' 10th design principles, where the product should be as little as possible. &nbsp;To keep it to the minimum, this hanger uses a cord that takes all the tension load and a horizontal bamboo skewer that takes all the compression load.</p><p>Most folding hanger have the hanging hook that restrict how small they can get, so I got rid it. &nbsp;To hang this hanger onto the pole, the cord is wrapped around the pole and then hooks back onto itself (see pictures).</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The hanger shown in the pictures use bamboo skewers of 4.2mm diameter and have a total width of 420mm. &nbsp;The hanger can hold the weight of three jackets and three pairs of jeans, so it should be enough for common use.</p><p>If you need stronger hanger, you can use thicker bamboo sections, make sure there is no bend in it. &nbsp;You also don't want the hanger bending at the middle connection, so make sure that the bamboo skewers fit snugly.</p><p>To make the hanger even more compact, you can divide the horizontal member into more sections. &nbsp;The three section hanger is small enough to put in your pocket, it is shown in two of the pictures (with single jacket and with sharpie).</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>There are two options of hooks available. &nbsp;The standard hook that spans three skewers. &nbsp;The smaller hook spans over two an a bit skewers (pictures show using both hooks in the packed state).</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>If you prefer your hanger with an actual hook, you may like to add a S-hook, radiator hook or belt hook (examples <a href="https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/54170-hook-hooks-extendable-multi-purpose-hooks">here</a>, <a href="https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/85364-belt-hanger">here</a>, <a href="https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/4575-cupboard-hook">here</a>, <a href="https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/86630-bathroom-radiator-towel-hook">here</a> and <a href="https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/43739-heavy-duty-s-hook">here</a>)</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Assembly Notes</strong></p><p>The extra materials I used are:</p><ol><li>4.2mm diameter skewers. &nbsp;Cut to lengths of 185mm and 215mm</li><li>2mm venetian blind cord. &nbsp;900mm in length (shown in the picture is a bit too long, you may want to use 800mm instead)</li></ol><p>The bamboo skewers seems to come in different sizes, so use the file that closest match the skewers you have and scale the model accordingly. &nbsp;If the bamboo connection is too tight, just sand the ends a bit.</p><p>Glue the bamboo to the end eyelets. &nbsp;Also glue the shorter bamboo to the shorter end of the middle connector.</p><p>For the 3 section hanger, you'll need to cut the skewers to 1x160mm and 2x120mm.</p><p><strong>Disassembly Notes</strong></p><p>If it is too tight to pull the hanger apart for storage. &nbsp;Put the printed connector on a table, push down on it with your hand and then pull the bamboo skewer out with the other hand.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Check out my other useful prints at <a href="https://www.prusaprinters.org/social/76585-highrise-workshop/prints">https://www.prusaprinters.org/social/76585-highrise-workshop/prints</a>. &nbsp;And don't forget to click the “Like” button.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>For those interested, using braided rope as part of clothes hanger is actually quite common. &nbsp;Here are examples I found.</p><p><a href="https://coolmaterial.com/gear/collapsible-travel-hanger/">Y002 at Cool Material</a> (this is most similar to mine)</p><p><a href="https://www.remodelista.com/posts/object-of-desire-hanging-laundry-rack-george-and-willy/">Hanging Rack by George &amp;
