Ultimate Nema17 Fan Shroud
thingiverse
I wasn't too thrilled with many stepper coolers, so I took matters into my own hands and designed one from scratch. The problem was that my steppers were not transferring heat properly to my aluminum extruder. This led to a string of failures while printing due to clogs or broken filament. But all that changed when I installed this cooler along with a heat sink - now I can push the extruder and other steppers harder and faster without any issues. This design fits snugly onto a standard NEMA 17 motor, requiring only the fan for secure attachment. I also made sure to give it enough depth so that I could fit a 40mm heat sink on the back of the motor. To get it just right, I simply needed to bevel the corners using a grinder or sander. For optimal results, print with PETG or ABS.
