Ultimate Movement Tray for Kings of War

thingiverse

I'm attempting to create a versatile "one tray to rule them all" design for wargaming - specifically tailored for Kings of War, but adaptable for any 28mm scale game. This design is centered around regiments of models with 20mm bases, though I'll be creating variations for troops and hordes, as well as for cavalry bases and 40mm monster-sized bases. The tray consists of two interlocking pieces, separated by about 0.2 mm on each side, allowing them to snap securely together if your printer is calibrated correctly. This design assumes that you've magnetized your miniatures for easy assembly and removal. The lower piece features an indentation designed to accommodate a 1mm thick galvanized steel tray. Once in place, a bit of super glue can secure the lower piece inside the upper piece, creating a sturdy, magnetized tray. The tray's dimensions should match standard KoW bases - 100mm x 80mm for regiments, 100mm x 40mm for troops, and so on. The upper piece is comprised of twenty 21mm x 21mm slots, providing ample space between each miniature. A 2mm grid adds a bit of breathing room, preventing miniatures from bumping elbows or shields when placed side by side. This design strikes a balance between size and functionality, ensuring your miniatures fit snugly without overcrowding. In the back of the tray, there's a compartment for small dice to serve as wound markers - an idea borrowed from other trays on this platform.
