Ultimate Hemera Anet A8 / AM8 Carriage For LM8LUU With Chain

thingiverse

A premium and robust Hemera X carriage designed specifically for Anet A8 and AM8 printers! This innovative upgrade comes with a belt holder, bearing blocks (specifically engineered for LM8LUU bearings) and an optional cable chain feature. **Important Note:** I have not tested the offsets on the original Anet A8. If you still have the printer, please let me know how it performs after installation. The following parts are included in this upgrade: * 1x Carriage_Base.stl: The main part of the carriage that holds the Hemera, bearings, belt holder and optional chain. * 1x Carriage_Bearing_Top.stl AND 1x Carriage_Bearing_Bottom.stl: These two parts must be printed together. The upper bearing has a recess for a screw used to mount the Hemera, as well as a protrusion to help trigger the endstop. * 1x Carriage_Belt.stl: Required to attach the belt to the carriage. * *Optional:* 1x Endstop.stl: A sleek replacement endstop for the AnetA8. The following parts are optional and only required if you plan to use the cable chain feature: * *Optional:* 1x Carriage_Chain.stl: Used to mount the chain to the carriage. * *Optional:* 1x Motor_Chain.stl: Used to attach the chain to the X motor. * *Optional:* 2x Chain_Long.stl: Longer segments of the chain. * *Optional:* 18x Chain_Short.stl: Shorter segments of the chain. * *Optional:* 4x Chain_Clamp_Long.stl: Clamps for the longer chain segments. * *Optional:* 20x Chain_Clamp_Short.stl: Clamps for the shorter chain segments. **Printing Instructions:** * Most parts don't require any supports. The only parts that need supports are Motor_Chain.stl and Carriage_Chain.stl. * Print all parts exactly as they are oriented to maximize quality, strength and ease of printing. * You may use 20% infill for all parts. * You may print all parts at 0.2mm layer height. **Assembly Instructions:** 1. Print all necessary parts, including chain components if you decide to use them. 2. Press fit the LM8LUU bearings into the two bearing blocks and secure them with zip ties. 3. Mount the bearing blocks onto the smooth rods and install them as you normally would. 4. Place the carriage base onto the blocks and screw them in using 8x M4x10 screws. Tighten them slowly and ensure the carriage still moves smoothly once done. 5. Remove the lower smooth rod to install the Hemera. I understand that the rod obstructs access to the Hemera screws, but there's no need to remove it afterwards. 6. Mount the Hemera onto the carriage base using 4x M3x10 countersunk screws and square nuts. 7. Restore the lower smooth rod and ensure the carriage slides smoothly. 8. Screw the belt holder into the back using 3x M3x20 hex head screws and attach the belt. 9. *Optional:* If you're using the chain feature, follow these instructions: 1. Assemble the chain: Motor_Chain.stl -> 2x Chain_Long.stl -> 18x Chain_Short.stl -> Carriage_Chain.stl 2. Mount the chain onto the printer. The motor side should be attached using 3 of the motor's screws on the front of the block, while the carriage side should be mounted using 3x M3x10 countersunk screws directly into the carriage base. 3. Insert cables into the chain and zip tie them at the ends at the provided anchor points. 4. Clip chain clamps to prevent cables from falling out. The clamps should snap into place, fitting snugly into their designated slots on the chain segments. If you have any questions or encounter issues, please comment below! I'll do my best to assist you. As always, I've included a Blender file for further editing if needed.
