ULTIMATE FILAMENT GUIDE For Flashforge Creator Pro (and similar compatible machines) This guide includes a comprehensive dust filter system and allows your filament to travel from the spool to the extruder with minimal exposure to air! Used in conjunction with a dry box, this will significantly increase the life of your filament and enhance print quality by keeping the plastic fresh and reducing defects during printing due to dust particles that may be present. There's also a convenient storage space for your allen keys! This guide requires fewer than $10 worth of external parts and prints easily using ABS. The dry box itself costs less than $10 to build. External parts required (all readily available on eBay): 6mm 1/8BSP Male Thread Quick Air Fitting Coupler Connectors: Four are needed for this part, with an additional two or four recommended for the dry box. 3mm PTFE teflon tubing: Two lengths are necessary, with the length varying depending on the distance to your dry box. Kitchen sponge: Two 1cm3 pieces. The dust filters are designed to push into the main part using two locking lugs that can only turn one direction for 180 degrees. There's a small amount of play when locked in place, which helps prevent them from breaking easily when twisting the connected tubing. Several other Thingiverse items have been modified or redesigned to create this guide (see remixed from section). Print Settings: Printer: Flashforge Creator Pro Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.20 Notes: Dust filters should be printed at a resolution of 0.20 or less to ensure a good thread resolution (slower is generally better). Printing with supports is recommended. Main body: Any layer height can be used, but printing without supports worked fine for this guide. Post-Printing: Once the main part is complete, push a male filter into each port and twist 180 degrees to clear out any sagging or bridging issues. Filter insertion: A hole should be poked through each 1 cm3 cube of sponge with the filament in place, or a slice can be cut halfway through the sponge and wrapped around the filament. Suggestion: When placing the couplers into the lid of your dry box, make sure to offset them to allow the filament to come off the spool as close to 90 degrees as possible.
