After printing Martin_J.'s ear saver model I noticed that the part of the model where the stems go into holes was very weak. I also noticed that when the stems were inserted the holes increased in size slightly, pulling the layers apart and decreasing strength. In contrast cvincross's design was much harder to insert the stems into. In this version I have increased the hole size as well as reinforcing the connection points by adding a box around it. This designs provides the best of both worlds - strength and easy insertion. Feel free to modify and share this design.
