No more dull dices in your board games! Amaze your friends next time you play with a custom dice. What's included: * The OpenSCAD script for easy customization on Thingiverse * 5 texture packs ready to use on your computer with OpenSCAD (instructions below) * 5 STL files ready to print, one for each texture pack (size: 20 mm, roundness: 10, engraving depth: 1mm) if you're in a hurry There's also a game-texture pack that's sure to stimulate your imagination. Leave a comment if you use it! Print Settings: * Rafts: Doesn't Matter * Supports: No * Resolution: Not less than 0.2 mm per layer * Infill: 20% * Notes: For a well-balanced dice, I recommend slicing with Slic3r and using a 20-25% 3D honeycomb infill. Select shell thickness equal to bottom/top thickness for even walls. Post-Printing: For the perfect dice, follow these steps after a successful print: * Sand the sides to remove excess layer marks and small imperfections * Brush with epoxy resin * Sand again with finer sandpaper until you're satisfied (don't worry if it's opaque) * Paint with varnish paint * When dry, paint engravings with a different varnish paint color This is for perfection - I only need the last step! Instructions about textures: To create your own unique engravings: * Create six square images of no less than 100x100 pixels (images larger than this will be scaled to that size) * Use greyscale, with a black background and white text/drawings * Leave some margin on each side to avoid overlapping engravings with the end of the sides If you use a roundness of 10 or more, consider the face surface as a circle - don't put anything in the image corners. If roundness > 10, texture faces will be automatically scaled to fit the reduced face. Standard 5-texture example: To use texture packs (on your OpenSCAD): You have two options: 1) The easy way: Put the scad file in a folder and uncompress the texture pack in the same folder. Open the scad file and voilà! 2) If you want to experiment with multiple texture packs: Put the scad file in a folder, create a subfolder for each texture pack, and uncompress the supplied zip files there. Then open the scad file. At the beginning, your dice will be without any engravings. Locate the /* [Hidden] */ section and set the TextureFolder parameter to the subfolder name of the texture pack you want to use, terminated with double backslashes (e.g., "Textures-standard\\"). Press F5 and you'll generate engraving using that texture-pack! Easy to change without messing with filenames.
