We placed our UM2 on a rubbermaid-style cart for effortless movement and storage space below for filament and supplies. However, we soon discovered that the cart's surface was not completely flat. As the print head moved from one side to the other, the UM2 started rocking back and forth, causing concerns about vibration stability. To address this issue, we elevated the UM2 using a 2-inch thick slab of high-density closed-cell foam. Initially, we observed that the standard "feet" on the UM2 were sinking into the foam, which prompted us to look for alternative feet that could distribute the load more evenly. Additionally, we aimed to improve airflow under the base by adding these new feet, as some users have reported overheating issues with the UM2's electronics. While we're not sure if this is a widespread problem or just an old wives' tale, we decided it couldn't hurt to take precautions. Lastly, since we were using plain PLA (specifically Form Futura Easyfil), we didn't expect the new feet to significantly affect vibration; however, the closed-cell foam should help dampen some of the vibrations, although we're not experts in this area.
