The Ultimaker X/Y rods' bearings should fit snugly into the wooden frame without protruding; otherwise, they may cause drag and printing difficulties at high speeds. To resolve this issue, utilize a custom-designed tool that assists in evenly pushing the bearings into the frame. A 0.5mm tall, circular top ensures optimal print quality with a .25mm profile. Before beginning, clean the top thoroughly for best results. Accessing the endcaps may require loosening bolts to rotate them out of the way. Carefully use the tool to push each bearing into place, reinsert and tighten the bolt. Repeat this process for all endcaps; it's recommended to complete this step before assembly to avoid access issues later on.
