ultimaker tug boat grande
thingiverse
The initial photos showcase the first Ultimaker Tug Boat I printed, which was based on the original v2 design. However, I've since made modifications to improve it and plan to release the updated version near a river once its replacement is ready. If you decide to print this model, reduce the infill percentage from 50% to around 30%, as the body is a shell and not solid. I may also make some minor design adjustments in the future. The last two pictures feature my newest version with the prototype visible. I'll address the top-heavy issue in version 3 by potentially adding a 1/4 nut embedded in the hull. Print settings include 0.3 layer height, 0.8 wall thickness, 0.6 bottom/top thickness, and 50% infill at a print speed of 50. I initially printed at 30% infill but found it to be poor quality due to unsupported spans and thin walls. The current STL file contains my latest modifications. Feel free to experiment with different sizes, colors, and print settings for PLA budget users. This project was a learning experience for me, exploring various factors like span workability, support thickness, wall thickness, and infill percentage effects on the final output compared to the original 3D drawing. It's a fun test print that will ultimately find a home in my birdbath rather than ending up in the bin with other shapes.
